Summary.

This position is responsible for assembling wire harnesses and/or panels from components as well as sub-assemblies. Executes duties with a high degree of quality, with few defects, and within the labor time requirements for the products being assembled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Understanding of crimp theory, how to adjust applicators to achieve crimp heights with the desired features that make a good crimp: wire brush, bellmouth, having wire and insulation visible in the window between the wire barrel and insulation barrel, in order to Set Up dies in termination machines for production
  • Pulls all dies that will run in the current shift to ensure they are readily available to set up and run in production. Inspects, maintains, and puts away dies that have been run the same day.
  • Able to perform & document preventative maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly) as required for all dies and maintain all dies in proper working order/condition, utilizing best practice instruction from industry standards
  • Able to identify and order any replacement/spare parts needed for dies to function as required
  • Maintain die “spares” storage with minimum wire crimpers, anvils, and insulation crimpers per die
  • Accountable for Die Log/Die Spreadsheet updated with correct information/maintained
  • Identify & correct potential issues with dies and equipment before they impact production
  • Use inspection tools and equipment (calipers, allen wrenches, socket wrenches, and adjustable wrenches).
  • Communicate directly with suppliers, technical support, and engineering via phone or email regarding troubleshooting, repair, and application of equipment and methods.

Education and/or Experience: One to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and any other referenced documents, along with simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisor, team members, and/or other members inside and outside the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply mathematical concepts using standardization formulae.

Reasoning Ability: Must possess, maintain, and utilize as required an understanding of general problem solving and logical reasoning. Ability to address a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to follow the process without deviating from the standard. Ability to read and interpret technical documents for troubleshooting malfunctions and part identification for replacement parts.
