Description

Summary

The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining internal technology platforms that streamline software development and operations. This role focuses on creating scalable, secure, and efficient platforms that enable developers to deliver applications quickly and reliably. The ideal candidate’s experience with infrastructure should be blended with continuous drive for growing automation, performance and security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Infrastructure and Platform Development

  • Design, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure standardization, security, and supportability.
  • Work closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams to optimize platform performance and support platform needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation, guidelines, and training materials for platform usage and best practices.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployments.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
  • Monitor platform health, including logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
  • Proactively monitor performance and optimization opportunities.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools for automating infrastructure provisioning.
  • Proficiency with AWS services for hosting and scaling platforms.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and AWS Code Pipelines.

Critical Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written English
  • Proven ability to drive outcomes and timelines in complicated technology/business projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical, professional, and executive staff.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in large enterprise IT organizations.
  • Experience in manufacturing or a similar industry
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and software development life cycles.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in information technology
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
