Overview

We’re partnering with a client to add a contract Data Scientist (12 months) to support stakeholders through dashboards, analytics, and data-driven insights. The focus is on building tech-facing reporting that leaders can use to make decisions—starting with initiatives like contractor spend visibility, employee engagement survey analytics, software licensing insights, and network traffic trend/pattern analysis.

What You'll Be Doing

Analytics, Modeling & Business Insight

  • Build analytical models that support stakeholder planning and tech-related initiatives
  • Analyze datasets tied to contractor spend, workforce signals, and operational performance
  • Surface trends, outliers, and opportunities, and package findings for leadership consumption

Dashboards & Reporting (Tableau)

  • Create and enhance interactive Tableau dashboards for stakeholders
  • Turn survey data into meaningful metrics and narratives, not just charts
  • Present results in a way that’s clear, structured, and actionable for senior audiences

Data Work (SQL) + Partnering with Data/Engineering

  • Develop and tune advanced SQL for large, complex datasets
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure reporting is built on consistent definitions and reliable data
  • Contribute to making analytics more scalable (repeatable pipelines, cleaner datasets, improved accessibility)

Advanced Analytics / ML (as needed)

  • Use statistical and machine learning approaches when they add value (forecasting, segmentation, predictive indicators)
  • Leverage Python to wrangle data, automate workflows, and support modeling efforts

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with stakeholders, and partner with Finance and HR as needed
  • Translate business questions into metrics, analysis plans, and practical deliverables
  • Communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For (Must Haves)

  • 5+ years in data analytics / data science roles
  • Strong, hands-on SQL experience (comfortable with complex queries and performance considerations)
  • Proven experience building dashboards in Tableau (end-to-end ownership)
  • Background in data modeling and analytical problem solving
  • Ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with spend, workforce, or operational datasets (any combination)

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Strong Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Applied experience with predictive modeling / machine learning in real projects
  • Experience operating in fast-moving, cross-functional environments
