Title - Activation Engineer
Location - Remote within Segra's footprint
Job Summary
Segra Activation Engineers work with internal teams and customers to deliver our suite of Ethernet products and services. Strong understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies and associated disciplines required. Applicants must have strong teamwork, analytic skills and be self-motivated to meet objectives. Work with many types of customers (small, large, vendor, government and carrier) as well as cross functional teams within the organization. Daily work is primarily assigned through scheduling while some is driven through tasks in our work flow or via direct assignment. This position is for a first shift with a rotating on call schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
| 70% | Work with internal teams and customers to activate Ethernet devices and servicesUpgrade new and existing Ethernet devices and services.Assign ipv4/ipv6 address space.Create scripts for managed services deployments. |
| 30% | Deactivate Ethernet devices and services. Troubleshoot activation issues pre and post turn up (trouble tickets). Rotating on call |
Qualifications
- Education: Networking, Computer Science or IT degree with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in telecommunication industry.

- Critical thinking skills for testing and troubleshooting.
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment while still meeting target dates.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Possess strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a cross-functional organization

IPv4/IPv6 addressing (Static & Dynamic) ,Layer 2 (MPLS, G.8032, STP, VLAN 802.1q, CDP, LLDP, ARP), Layer 3 (eBGP, iBGP, EIGRP, OSPF, ISIS, DHCP, DNS, NAT), Ethernet services (VPLS/ELAN, ELINE/P2P, VPRN/VRF), Application (WIFI, Telnet, SSH, Packet Capture), Security (TACACS+/RADIUS), RFC 2544 & Y.1564 testing

Cisco (9000x, 3600ME, 3750ME), Ciena (51xx, 39xx), Adtran (6250, 908, 1550), Adva (2xx, 11x), Alcatel (7750, 7450), Ruckus (R510), VMware (Edge 3400, 3800, 620, 680), Cradlepoint (E100, E3000)
