The Care Coordinator will serve as the primary responder to the 974-HELP assistance line and all contacts related to the Distressed Student Protocol. This role requires collaboration with various campus and community resources to create and implement individualized action plans for distressed students, ensuring they receive appropriate support and care. The coordinator will facilitate the coordination of medical care, crisis intervention, and hospitalizations, as well as provide follow-up support to ensure recommendations made by the Assistant Director and Case Management Team are followed. The position also involves tracking referrals from across the university community and fostering strong relationships with community partners for ongoing support and education.
Responsibilities
- Respond to 974-HELP Assistance Line: Act as the primary responder to calls, emails, and other contacts associated with the 974-HELP line.
- Develop and Coordinate Action Plans: Collaborate with campus resource units, agencies, and the CCR Team to design and implement individualized action plans for distressed students, ensuring timely and effective support.
- Facilitate Access to Care: Coordinate referrals and access to medical care, including arranging hospitalizations, coordinating discharge planning, and facilitating crisis intervention when necessary.
- Follow-Up and Monitoring: Provide follow-up services to ensure compliance with recommendations made by the Associate Director/Director. Track and document progress, ensuring that distressed students receive continuous and comprehensive care.
- Maintain Information Flow: Support the department by obtaining, recording, and reviewing updates for distressed students, facilitating seamless communication and coordination among relevant resources.
- Track Referrals: Monitor and track referrals from faculty, staff, administration, and other members of the university community for distressed students. Ensure that referral data is accurate, consistent, and up to date.
- Develop Community Relationships: Build and maintain strong referral relationships with local community partners. Engage in routine outreach and educational efforts to strengthen collaboration and ensure that distressed students have access to necessary community resources.
- Ensure Consistency in Care: Ensure all referrals and services provided to distressed students align with university policies, protocols, and best practices, maintaining consistency in care and support across campus.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, human services, or connected field.
- Experience: Experience managing responses to mental health related crisis situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
- Experience: 1 year of experience in a community mental health center and/or crisis service response in higher education or other settings. Familiarity with college populations and support mechanisms within a higher education settings.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong case management and intervention skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
- Knowledge of local community resources and medical care systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Compensation and Benefits UT market range: MR07
- Anticipated hiring range: commensurate with experience
