The Event Coordinator plays a role in the development of major events from enrollment to commencement and beyond for the Division of Student Success. The Event Coordinator is supervised by the Director of Strategic Programming and works collaboratively across the Division of Student Success and with campus partners. This is a Temporary Position of 3 months.

Required Qualifications

    • Event planning experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Event planning skills and experience

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability

    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to relate effectively with students, parents, alumni, leadership, and University stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education

    • Master’s Degree

  • Experience

    • 1-3 years of experience with event planning

    • Experience programming for diverse student population

    • Experience working in student activities, orientation, or transition programming

    • Experience managing high-profile events on a college campus

    • Supervision experience

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Knowledge of and commitment to the educational development of students

    • Specialized knowledge of issues related to student transition to college

Compensation and Benefits

Event Planning & Program Development (60%)

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Programming, the Event Coordinator will assist in the oversight of all aspects of major event and special program development (concerts, performances, donor engagement, professional development series, speakers, etc) for the Division of Student Success. This includes communication and coordination with campus partners and off-campus vendors, management of budget, etc. The coordinator will a secondary point of contact for divisional programs and signature events, and will serve as an event manager for select programs and special events for units within Division of Student Success. The incumbent will work with campus partners (Office of the Chancellor, Student Life, Athletics, UTPD, etc.) to develop programs for special populations and strategic initiatives.

Supervision (20%)

Indirect supervision of practicum students, Interns, and student employees; Assist with recruitment and selection of student staff.

Office Responsibilities (20%)

Under the direction of the Director, conduct assessment and data analysis of office programs and publications and work with team to identify suggestions for improvement. Assist with shared office processes for planning. Contribute to shared program development in the office and committee work in the division, including but not limited to committee service, staff searches, and professional development. Complete other duties as assigned.
