The IT Analyst IV will serve as the primary technical lead and support specialist for the ERP Student Information System (SIS) with a specific focus in areas of student records. This role will involve designing, developing, testing, and documenting complex software solutions that operate independently or as part of a larger information system. The ideal candidate will be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on providing day-to-day technical support for the designated information systems.

The Office of Innovative Technologies seeks an IT Analyst IV to design, develop, test, and document complex software solutions. Reports to the OIT Manager, Student Information Systems. The IT Analyst IV will serve as the primary technical lead and support specialist for the ERP Student Information System (SIS) with a specific focus in areas of student records.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field and five years’ experience
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience:
    • Five years of IT application development and programming experience using Oracle, PL/SQL or SQL languages, oracle packages, procedures, and functions
    • Three years’ experience with enterprise software solutions
    • Three years’ experience as a software analyst
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Advanced analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to translate user-requirements into a deliverable product

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Higher Education or Student Information Systems experience

    • Familiarity with Linux/bash scripting and automated job scheduling tools

    • Familiarity with Oracle ERP systems

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated project management skills

    • Demonstrated skills in both written and verbal communication

    • Demonstrate organizational skills, including project and task management.

Work Location

  • Location: Knoxville, TN

  • This is an on-campus position in Knoxville, Tennessee with some flexibility for hybrid/remote work.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR16

  • Anticipated hiring range: $90,000 – 110,000

  • Regular Full Time Exempt

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of software programming solutions related to the ERP Student Information System
  • Provide primary technical support for student records, addressing and resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide complex analysis, troubleshooting, and advanced problem-solving skills related to the ERP Student Information System and student records processes
  • Ability to lead and manage projects impacting large groups of stakeholders independently and in collaboration with internal cross functional teams and external vendors
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure the seamless operation and integration of systems
  • Test and document new software solutions, manipulating data as needed to ensure they meet functional requirements and maintain system integrity.
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential improvements, and implement optimizations as necessary.
  • Maintain system documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, test plans, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in system upgrades, patches, and new functionality implementations as required.
  • Performs emergency maintenance on mission-critical, time-dependent software systems
  • Provides project status reports to internal and external management
  • Prioritizes work based on user priorities, legal requirements, and availability of University resources
