As an integral member of the RecSports Department, this person will advise approximately 46 registered student organization sport clubs. This position provides guidance to clubs and helps them manage practices, budgets, and events.
The Sport Club Coordinator is directly responsible for oversight of the Sport Clubs Program (approximately 46 sport clubs) for the RecSports Department. This position oversees Sutherland Field Complex staffing.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: 1 year experience working with students and student groups in a university campus recreation program or 3 years working in a related recreational sports field (i.e., Parks & Rec, etc.)
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to work with diverse constituencies, prioritize multiple work responsibilities in time-sensitive situations, work with limited supervision, supervise, and delegate work to student staff, exercise good judgment, handle different situations with confidence and leadership, and be flexible; Knowledge of supervising and programming recreation facilities; Ability to use PC and Mac operating systems and Microsoft office suite; Strong skills in verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree
- Experience: 2 years professional experience working with students and student groups in a university campus recreation program; Experience supervising graduate assistants and student employees; Presentation and team building facilitation experience; Experience with communication media; Membership and participation in the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Skill in student organization advising, budgeting, program evaluation, and risk management.

- Anticipated hiring range: $48,000-$52,000

- Coordinate all aspects of club trips, including management and oversight of sport club budgets and the Sport Club point system for budget allocation.
- Recruit/hire/train/oversee student employees.
- Oversee membership requirements and compliance with university/department risk management protocols.
- Maintain membership data, payroll, injury, incident, and inventory records.
- Assess functions of the program and its impact on student learning and the collegiate experience.
- Advise members/officers/volunteers regarding club activity, organization, development, and university requirements.
- Offer officer training/education program.
- Oversee and assist in the supervision of Sutherland Field Complex events.
- Plan and facilitate monthly officer meetings and communicate club information to departmental personnel.
- Responsible for three of the department's leased vans.
