Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Registered Nurse position in University Surgical Oncology at UT Medical, located in Knoxville, TN. The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and . Daily responsibilities include scheduling surgeries and radiology exams, handling outgoing/ incoming referrals, coordinating with surgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, and preparing patients and families for procedures and post-operative recovery. The role involves patient and family education on treatment plans and instructions, while promoting safety and adherence to evidence-based protocols. The Registered Nurse will document care in the electronic health record, support quality and performance improvement initiatives, and contribute to a compassionate, team-oriented environment aligned with UT Medical’s academic and clinical mission.

Qualifications

  • Strong Nursing and Medicine knowledge base, including assessment, clinical decision-making, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven Patient Care skills, including patient advocacy, education, and supportive care for individuals and families facing cancer and surgery.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); oncology nursing certification or chemotherapy certification is a plus.
  • Experience in surgical or oncology settings, ideally within an academic or teaching hospital environment.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced clinical settings.
