UT Medical is seeking an experienced Director of Managed Care to lead our payer contracting strategy, strengthen payer partnerships, and help drive reimbursement performance across the organization.
This is a highly visible role that works closely with executive leadership and serves as a key connection point between UT Medical and our commercial, government, and managed care partners. The Director will lead contract negotiations and administration, payer relations, reimbursement analysis, contract compliance, and credentialing while identifying opportunities to strengthen financial performance and revenue integrity.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the healthcare payer landscape, the ability to translate complex contract and reimbursement terms into meaningful financial insights, and the relationship skills needed to navigate high-level payer negotiations.
What You’ll Lead- Lead managed care contract negotiations, strategy, and payer relationship management
- Partner with executive leadership on payer strategy, reimbursement opportunities, and emerging contract issues
- Analyze managed care agreements and reimbursement methodologies to identify financial opportunities, risks, and performance trends
- Oversee contract modeling, compliance monitoring, reimbursement analysis, and contract performance audits
- Direct payer credentialing activities, including relationships with managed care organizations and TennCare
- Provide operational leadership for Managed Care and Contract Audit functions
- Develop policies, procedures, performance standards, and reporting that support effective managed care operations
- Lead, develop, and support team members while establishing clear performance expectations
- Manage departmental budgets, operational reporting, and resource planning
- Collaborate across the organization to resolve payer issues and advance revenue optimization and financial performance initiatives
Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of related experience in managed care, payer contracting, healthcare finance, reimbursement, or an equivalent area preferred.
Successful candidates will bring strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills, along with the ability to lead teams, evaluate complex reimbursement arrangements, and work effectively with senior leaders and external payer partners.
