Job Description
The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Business Intelligence Reporting Coordinator for the University of Tennessee Foundation. Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, the Business Intelligence Reporting Coordinator is responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining reports and dashboards for our customer to optimize reporting, analytics, and business processes in support of the Foundation’s fundraising goals and strategic initiatives. This role will interpret business needs and deliver impactful and innovative reporting solutions through utilizing best in class business intelligence tools and optimizing the Foundation’s data sources.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reporting Projects: Generate reports, SQL, and/or stored procedures to query data from our data warehouse based on user specifications. Create Salesforce reports based on user needs and specifications. Assist with the creation of views and tables and coordinate the migration of reporting objects to production. Verify the data displayed on reports is accurate and conforms to the business rules as stated in the Advancement Information Services and Procedures document. Test data integrity within reports for accuracy. Communicate any data oddities/discrepancies discovered in the process of testing. Review code written by Reporting Team members to ensure the queries will result in displaying accurate information. Assist in developing solutions to address Advancement’s evolving reporting needs. New ideas/solutions are needed for additional training, preferred types of reports, documentation, reporting structures, etc.
Data warehouse/ Dashboard visualization/ Reporting Infrastructure: Work with UT System Business Intelligence team to identify data sources that need to be uploaded to the data warehouse for reporting, prepare the data, and develop process to extract, transform, upload on a regular basis. Create scheduled jobs and other automatic processes to provide up to date information to users. Establish processes for security settings and dashboard/report deployment to university and campus administrators for distribution of visualizations. Develop tables, views, functions and stored procedures to fit the reporting needs of the university and foundation.
Fundraising/Metrics/Internal Reporting and Analysis: Compile, prepare, and distribute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly fundraising metrics and internal operations reports for the university and all its campuses/divisions via SQL queries and stored procedures. Replace all current reports with dashboards, visualizations, and BI scheduled reports through use of UT data warehouse and Tableau. Develop new scheduled reports/dashboards or modify current reports/dashboards to fit the needs of the university as well as each of its campuses/ divisions.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
The candidate who fills the Business Intelligence Reporting Coordinator position is required to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1+ year of experience in an office environment, preferably in analytics, fundraising, higher education or non-profit
- 1+ year of experience using SQL, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, reporting tools such as Microsoft SSRS and Salesforce reporting, and visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Ability to work with large datasets and analyze complex data
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and computer skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented, able to think clearly, and work under pressure
- Understanding of Institutional Advancement
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 3 years of experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
- Master’s Degree
- Knowledge of accounting and statistical concepts
