Job Description

Student Disability Services within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Testing Coordinator. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.

The mission of Student Disability Services (SDS) is to partner with the campus community in creating equitable access to eligible students while promoting disability-inclusive diversity. Staff is comprised of 23 professional and administrative employees.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Disability Services, the Testing Coordinator manages and coordinates the daily operations of the Student Disability Services (SDS) Testing Center, including supervision of the testing specialists.

Responsibilities

TESTING SERVICES:

  • Coordinate delivery of testing services to qualified and registered students with disabilities
  • Draft testing policies/procedures, including efficient workflows for daily operations and final exam planning
  • Oversee/Administer exams according to prescribed standards and guidelines, including the conduct of examinees
  • Manage testing appointments, schedules, and customer service inquiries by communicating and providing information/assistance to faculty, staff, and students regarding exams, exam information, and testing policies and procedures
  • Organize/Prepare/Verify accuracy of exam materials
  • Convert exam materials into accessible formats for use with assistive technology software
  • Manage and troubleshoot technology used for proctoring services
  • Direct activities of couriers
  • Secure additional testing locations as needed

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:

  • Train, supervise, and support Testing Specialists
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports and work with leadership to develop meaningful professional development opportunities for staff
  • Meet weekly with direct reports to provide guidance and support for the effective daily operation of the testing center
  • Provide support with the hiring and supervision of student and temporary testing staff

ASSESSMENT & PLANNING:

  • Collect statistics to report semester and annual data for the department as well as evaluate, project, and report future service needs
  • Conduct assessment of testing services and propose an implementation plan for improved, enhanced, and expanded service delivery
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to maintain the highest level of integrity and accessibility to students
  • Maintain the testing center's certification through the National College Testing Association

CONSULTATION & TRAINING:

  • Serve as a subject expert in testing procedures, practices, and policies for Student Disability Services
  • Provide instruction to faculty, staff, and students through training sessions, workshops, online modules, video demonstrations, and more

This position requires evening work approximately once or twice per week and potential weekend commitments.


Qualifications

Education: This position requires a bachelor’s degree.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience working directly with students in a post-secondary educational system or other relevant testing services role. A Master’s degree may substitute for years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of test administration standards/guidelines
  • Skilled in document conversion software to provide accessible exam and instructional material through various media platforms
  • Ability to effectively/efficiently manage people/priorities
  • Ability to develop/present testing policies/procedures
  • Ability to stay abreast of current and emerging trends and information in testing and document conversion
  • Ability to maintain and present accurate records, reports, and statistical data
  • Ability to research, propose, and implement new technologies and procedures
  • Skilled communicator via phone, email, and in person

What We Prefer:

Education: Master’s degree

Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience working directly with students in a post-secondary educational system in a testing environment; Previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ADA and provision of disability-related accommodations
  • Advanced computer software skills.

Salary: This position is classified as Market Range 08. The salary is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package.
