The Office of the Chancellor consists of committed staff members who assist the Chancellor in her initiatives both on campus and beyond. This position functions as a support role for the reception area of the Office of Chancellor, as well as administrative support for two cabinet members, Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and the Chancellor’s Chief of Staff.
Responsibilities
Provides exceptional front-line reception services for visitors to the University of Tennessee and the Office of the Chancellor. Welcomes and directs guests within the formal office environment of the Chancellor. Utilizes sound judgment to assess and escalate in-person or telephone requests as necessary. Manages and prioritizes calls, emails, and correspondence from both internal and external stakeholders, routing them to the appropriate personnel or department. Oversee the scheduling and requirements of conference rooms. Handles sensitive requests with utmost confidentiality.
Aids the Assistant to the Chancellor as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/GED
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in an administrative support position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including composing and editing correspondence, presentations, and reports.
- Outstanding professionalism and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of personalities and communication styles.
- Ability to use sound judgement when making decisions, problem solving, and accessing information as needed.
- Strong knowledge of and experience using MS Office and related computer/software products.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and manage projects simultaneously.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the position.
- Experience: 1-2 years in Higher Education administrative support position
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of organization and functions of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Compensation and Benefits
- UT market range: MR05
- Anticipated hiring range: $30,000-55,000
