Job Description
The Lau lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to immediately join our research team investigating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying neurological disorders. The successful candidate will lead projects focusing on circuit dysfunction using systems neuroscience approaches.
Position Overview
The postdoctoral fellow will investigate synaptic and circuit alterations in neurological disorders using slice electrophysiology, miniscope and optogenetic approaches in freely behaving mice. Additionally, this position offers opportunities to work with graduate and undergraduate trainees in the lab, with the potential to develop classroom teaching skills and independent lines of enquiry, which will be useful for establishing track record for independent academic positions.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments using systems neuroscience approaches to investigate circuit dysfunction in neurological disorders
- Analyze complex datasets and develop novel analytical approaches
- Present findings at scientific conferences and write manuscripts for publication
- Contribute to grant writing and laboratory management
- Mentor junior researchers and students
- Collaborate with other team members and external collaborators
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology or related field
- Extensive hands-on experience in slice electrophysiology and systems neuroscience approaches
- Demonstrated track record of productive research through peer-reviewed publications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Programming skills for data analysis (MATLAB, Python, or similar)
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
