THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position provides nursing support for OBGYN nurse practitioners and resident physicians in graduate medical education outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies and assists physicians and nurse practitioners with procedures.
- Stands in as chaperon when appropriate.
- Obtains vitals and brief health history, escorts patient to exam room, enters quality data into electronic medical record, and administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections per orders.
- Performs telephone triage as needed following established protocols.
- Scheduling for referrals to specialists as needed.
- Performs duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of clinical experience; OR Associate’s Degree, six (6) months experience. Experience accurately maintaining Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and some coding and billing knowledge. Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment is essential. Experience in an Internal Medicine office setting is preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical records and Microsoft office like word and excel is preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CMA, CCMA, RMA or equivalent. Must be certified/licensed in the state of Tennessee or have the ability to obtain TN certification/licensure. Must maintain up to date medical and CPR certification. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
WORK SCHEDULE: Ability to work after hours, if necessary.
