Graduate Communications Specialist: The Graduate School - UTK
Job Description
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the person in this position will develop and implement technology solutions primarily in the areas of web development and database management to achieve communications goals.
Responsibilities
The primary job functions/responsibilities of the position include:
- Web Assets Upkeep:
- assist in the upkeep of primary web assets, such as the Graduate School website, the Graduate Council website, and intranet sites related to faculty and staff support
- assist with content updates and the development of HTML/CSS/Javascript solutions for specific needs as they arise
- assists in the redesign and development of the next-generation Graduate School website using new systems developed by the university-level web development teams
- CRM Related Assets:
- collaborate with Graduate School teams to develop solutions in Slate and Salesforce to display data for users (faculty, staff, students), allowing them to interact with Slate and Salesforce data
- develop microsites (portals) and forms as needed
- provide support in the continuing development and maintenance of HTML email templates used in CRM-related communications
- Data Management & Reporting:
- collaborate with Graduate School staff and the Office of Innovative Technologies to develop and implement solutions to connect various data sources across campus related to graduate students to provide necessary reports used by administration to implement data-driven strategies
- Other
- provide support and service for Graduate School Events (such as orientations, hooding, community fair, etc.)
- other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and other relevant web technologies
- experience with databases, such as Oracle or MySQL
- an ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
- excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience:
- Experience working in higher education
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Experience with:
- Wordpress and/or Sharepoint
- Administration of a CRM, such as slate or Salesforce
- Building and deploying HTML emails
- Graduate enrollment management or higher education, in general
- Graphic design principles
- Experience with:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
Work Location
- This position is a full-time, in-person position working at the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus.
Compensation and Benefits
UT market range: 8
- Anticipated hiring range: DOE, $48,000 – 53,000
