JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Administrative Assistant 1 provides administrative support for the front office. This position supports staff for front desk operations for Knox Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic
Responsibilities
- Schedules patient appointments (check-in, check-out) and maintains calendars.
- Reviews insurance eligibility, as needed.
- Communicates with providers regarding patient appointments and other patient communication.
- Processes new patient forms and requests previous records, as necessary.
- Creates appointments in EMR for multiple providers’ schedules.
- Answers and routes phone calls from patients and other providers.
- Collects co-pays and cash payments; uses credit card terminal following PCI rules.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office setting. (Ability to fluently speak Spanish is preferred).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate both on the telephone and in person.
- Attention to detail and ability to learn new skills.
- Computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability and knowledge about Zoom applications for the telehealth needs of the clinic.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends
