Job Description

Setup and operation of all heavy bindery equipment, such as the Mueller saddle stitcher, folders, large folders, perfect binder, cutters, scoring and perf equipment. Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment as identified above. Coordinate with the Assistant Director to request service and repair technicians and order parts and/or consumables as required. Assist with light bindery functions as needed - punch, collation, saddle stitching, drill, cutting, laminating, and any associated handwork required for a project. Participate with the Assistant Director and other internal stakeholders to discuss project specifications and processing efficiencies as needed. This position performs setup and operation of all heavy bindery equipment for offset and digital printing. Assist with pulling paper and other items from inventory as required - complete all necessary computer entries connected to material pulls into inventory software. Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the course of the work day. Assist with shipping, receiving and job deliveries on campus as needed. Performs other duties in the production area as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heavy bindery equipment for both offset and digital printing.
  • Coordinate service, repairs, and part orders with the Assistant Director and operations manager.
  • Support light bindery and hand-finishing work when required.
  • Participate in planning and process improvement discussions.
  • Pull inventory and complete related computer entries.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assist with shipping/deliveries.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year operating heavy bindery equipment (saddle stitchers, large folders, perfect binder, cutters, etc.)
  • Knowledge of heavy bindery equipment and the uses for each type of equipment, with experience and skill to setup, operate and maintain heavy bindery equipment from a variety of manufacturers.
  • Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years operating heavy bindery equipment (saddle stitchers, large folders, perfect binder, cutters, etc.) – preferred.
  • Ability to perform light bindery operations - preferred.
  • Experience using print information systems software for entering shop floor data – preferred.
