Job Description

The Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is hiring a Wellness Coordinator to cover the focus area of: Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP).

The Relationship & Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating comprehensive prevention strategies related to relationship and sexual violence for the general undergraduate student body across the Social Ecological Model (individual, relational, community, & societal levels) in alignment with the UT Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking. This role includes oversight of the annual General Student Body RSVP Plan in collaboration with the Office of Title IX, and coordination of educational presentations, events, and awareness campaigns on topics including consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, sexual health, and other RSV prevention.

The RSVP Coordinator leads the implementation of required campus-wide initiatives, including Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), the Consent Is Campaign, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and more, and works closely with campus and community partners. Additional responsibilities include supervising promotional efforts and social media campaigns, ensuring university, state, and federal compliance and reporting, and co-chairing the RSVP Team. The position requires a balance of strategic planning, creativity, collaboration, and passion for prevention and student well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services
  • Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health promotion for students
  • Provide input on management of the overall CHEW budget
  • Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate paid and/or volunteer student staff and/or interns
  • Develop and oversee the content of the website, social media, and print materials
  • Speak to student groups about the CHEW and other health-related departments upon request
  • Contribute to the promotion of the overall CHEW department
  • Develop, implement, and analyze periodic health surveys that 1) provide baseline and follow-up health data, 2) identify program needs and priorities, 3) evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, and 4) track trends in student health status and behavior

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, or related field
  • Experience: One year of related health promotion work experience (2 yr graduate assistantship equals 1 yr experience).
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education. Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models. Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on a particular setting. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives. Written/oral/interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience: Experience doing health promotion and prevention work in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of national best practices of health promotion within higher education.
