Job Description

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Assistant Director of Stewardship and Alumni Engagement for the Winston College of Law at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Alumni Engagement, is responsible for managing and developing projects and programs aimed at engaging and stewarding the College of Law’s philanthropic supporters.

This role will assist in annual giving and major giving initiatives, events, and communication with internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Stewardship Focused Initiatives: Design and execute donor stewardship and engagement plans, maintaining donor information in the CRM system, overseeing gift agreements, and managing top donor strategies to coordinate major gift and planned giving stewardship. Coordinate and communicate all donor-related financial information, gift agreements, and scholarship criteria, while also designing and producing various stewardship communications to connect donors with beneficiaries in collaboration with internal and external partners. Manage donor stewardship, including annual endowment reporting, creating and overseeing acknowledgments and scholarship thank-you processes, and planning and executing various donor engagement and recognition events.

Events and Alumni Engagement: Manage and execute all aspects of regional alumni events, encompassing invitation design and distribution, RSVP management, logistics, and coordinating the college's participation in various annual events. Oversees and executes all aspects of local alumni and donor engagement events, including arranging logistical details with venues and adhering to university policies, while performing essential research to produce comprehensive briefing materials for leadership.

Administrative: Provide administrative support, handle gift processing, correspondence, data management in the CRM, coordinate event tickets, oversee student workers and assist with various departmental programs and events.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Alumni Engagement position is required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in either event planning, sales, or fundraising
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple complex projects while consistently meeting deadlines

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 year of experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree
  • 3+ years in higher education advancement fundraising
