JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Post Award Grants Manager in the Knoxville Business Office manages the post-award research and public service grant process to include account creation through the UT Health Science Center Office of Sponsored Project Accounting (SPA).

Responsibilities

  1. Manages the invoice approval and processing for grant subwardee and individual service agreements while tracking expenditures against contracted budgets.
  2. Collaborates with (i.e. UTK, University of Pittsburgh) other entities and UT Health Science Center SPA office on sister, subaward coordination to ensure the process is progressing as required.
  3. Manages the process with University Health Systems for Cancer/ Alzheimer, Women in Science, Harper Fund, and Clinical Trial grants to include invoice processing, tracking balances to budget and closeouts.
  4. Coordinates the billing process with the UT Health Science Center Sponsored Projects Analyst on invoicing timing and amounts to sponsoring agencies.
  5. Manages the patient stipend petty cash fund to include initial CBO approval, disbursement of funds as needed, completion of reimbursement forms and processing, check cashing, and weekly audits of fund balance.
  6. Works closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and departmental administrative employees on timely ledger review and reconciliation.
  7. Tracks actual expenditures to budget and collaborates with Assistant Dean, Director of Accounting on how variances to the grant budgets will be accounted for through cost recovery.
  8. Manages the post-award account and budget creation process to include completion of the T1 budget, WBS element request form, and labor distribution schedule creation for employees.
  9. Acts as Effort Compensation Compliance Coordinator for sponsored projects accounts and assists PI with the process.
  10. Manages the entire grant closeout process in collaboration with the Sponsored Project Analyst at UT Health Science Center.
  11. Ensures the College of Medicine Knoxville is fully compliant with federal, state and private regulations pertaining to grants.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Four (3) years of related financial or grant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Skill with accounting systems, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to problem solve and research resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
