Job Description

The Office of the Chancellor consists of committed staff members who assist the Chancellor in her initiatives both on campus and beyond. This position provides administrative assistance to two key individuals reporting directly to the Chancellor.

Responsibilities

Provides high level of professional administrative assistance to Sr. Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and Chief of Staff which includes maintaining complex calendars, corresponding on behalf of those supported, scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, preparing materials and arranging catering as necessary. Prepares official documents and presentations; and assists with other administrative projects. Maintains strict confidentiality or privileged and/or sensitive information.

Aids the Assistant to the Chancellor as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an administrative support position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including composing and editing correspondence, presentations, and reports.
  • Outstanding professionalism and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of personalities and communication styles.
  • Ability to use sound judgement when making decisions, problem solving, and accessing information as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience using MS Office and related computer/software products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and manage projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: 1-2 years in Higher Education administrative support position
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of organization and functions of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Work Location

  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Onsite with occasional weekends and evenings

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR08
  • Anticipated hiring range: $40,000-73,000
