Job Description
The Vehicle Preparation Assistant ensures that rental vehicles are clean and reliable for campus users. Daily operations will include washing, vacuuming, and sanitizing vehicles. This position will also refuel vehicles, as needed. And will perform monthly inspections for vehicle safety related items.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities will include detailing vehicles. This means hand washing of exterior, vacuuming of interior, and sanitizing high touch points.
- Monthly Inspections include checking vehicle tires for condition and pressure, light bulb operations, fluid level checks, etc.
- Miscellaneous tasks to include refueling, collecting lost & found items, moving vehicles, and checking parking lot for trash.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma, or GED
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- valid driver’s license
- Reliability
- ability to work in a physically active, outdoor environment
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Experience with detailing vehicles
Position Details
- Location: Fleet Management – (1201 U.T. Drive, Knoxville, TN)
- Onsite, Hybrid, or Remote : Onsite
- Position Pay Rate/Range: $16/hour
- Hours: Monday – Friday; 830am – 430pm
- Duration of Temporary Assignment: 24 months

Fleet Management is here to provide travel options for our campus staff and faculty. We manage a rental pool of 100+ vehicles that we offer for daily, weekly, or monthly rentals. The onsite pool consists of sedans, mini-vans, 12-passenger vans, and trucks. And our goal is to make travel simpler, more efficient, and enjoyable for our faculty and staff.
