Job Description

The Career Development Coordinator supports the professional growth and career readiness of students by leading experiential learning, industry engagement, and internship programs across CCI. The role supports in the management of professional development courses, internships and employer partnerships and also provides direct student coaching for internships and experiences. The position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners. Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Coordinator oversees tracking, assessment and reporting of student outcomes as related to internships and experiential learning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, manage and curate Exploratory Experiences for CCI 101.
  • Collaborate with Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration to organize applicable VolTreks and shadowing opportunities.
  • Serve as liaison to CCI Director of Student Engagement and other college-level leaders to manage the 200-level externship.
  • Secure industry partners for experiences aligned with the Professional Development series.
  • Design and manage events, programs and resources focused on bringing together CCI students with potential internship partners.
  • Serve as POC for faculty internship coordinators within CCI’s academic units.
  • Manage CCI signature experiential programs, such as the Vols Remote Internship Program.
  • Implement a college-wide tracking system for hands-on experiences in collaboration with school representatives - Report on student learning and program outcomes.
  • Create on-demand Internship-ready modules aligned with the internship process from search to seeking credit.
  • Collaborate with the Career Readiness and VOL Edge teams to embed career readiness into the CCI experience through curated assignments, customized pre and post experience workshops by school/major
  • Manage Internship recognition campaign in collaboration with Marcom specialist.
  • Interface with existing and prospective industry partners interested in recruiting CCI students for full-time opportunities and internships to increase opportunities for CCI students.
  • Consult with existing internship partners on issues, challenges, etc.
  • Design and implement a CCI internship showcase or similar signature event.
  • Create and coordinate curated content in alignment with subject matter area of expertise (Experiential Learning and Internships).
  • Manage curated list of open internship positions and partners by school/major.
  • Provide drop-in career advising for CCI students including 1-1 internship search strategy sessions with CCI students.
  • Assist the Director as needed in strategically planning and participating in targeted industry networking trips—site visits, conferences, and career fairs—collaborating with School Directors to identify targeted opportunities and the Office of Finance and Administration for logistical support.
  • Collect and report on CCI Signature Experiential programs outcomes.
  • Collect and report student engagement in college-wide experiences.
  • Conduct presentations and workshops for FYS courses, professional seminars and student organizations.
  • Provide support for college-wide industry engagement trips.
  • Assist with other CCI and School activities, events, and programs that are aligned with the mission of CCI’s Career Development Program, including student orientation, visit days, etc., and community outreach.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of two years full-time experience in a higher education or corporate environment focused on early talent programs, employer relations, college recruiting, sales, development or other areas where building relationships with individuals/organizations is a major responsibility.
  • Knowledge of career development theories and best practices.
  • Knowledge of current labor market trends and employer hiring needs.
  • Skilled in designing and delivering engaging career development workshops and presentations.
  • Skilled in providing effective one-on-one career counseling and guidance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, alumni, faculty, and employers.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Experience in a college career center.
  • Knowledge of a career services management system such as Grad Leaders, Handshake, or Symplicity CSM and the ability to run reports.
  • Knowledge of employment trends, job search strategies and career development theories, best practices, and resources.

Work Location: On site in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Compensation and Benefits: The anticipated salary for this position is $50,000 depending on the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and suitability.
