Job Description

The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Producer. The producer is a video storyteller that creates a wide range of visual content focusing on key areas including recruiting and retaining students, engaging alumni, and promoting and protecting the university’s brand and image.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university’s reputation. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends.

The division comprises several cross-functional teams, employing more than 50 full-time professionals with expertise in design, development, video production, content strategy, feature writing, editing, marketing, media relations, internal communication, and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of a video project from initial concept to final delivery
  • Create, plan and execute all facets of high-quality video productions
  • Operate cameras and direct lighting setups in field and studio production
  • Edit audio/video footage
  • Develop and execute visual graphic ideas, motion graphics and animations.
  • Assume creative control on many projects
  • Interact with clients to determine project scope, and continues correspondence to project completion
  • Schedule staff, equipment and participants for video productions
  • Monitor and maintain cost control on video budgets
  • Communicate with clients across campus from the department level to upper administration
  • Collaborate with other Communications & Marketing team members on department-wide, strategic initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma and at least 6 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR,

Associate’s degree and at least 4 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR,

Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Strong videography skills
  • Strong audio production skills
  • Lighting skills
  • Non-linear editing skills
  • Intermediate graphic design and compositing software skills
  • Intermediate ability to create and utilize graphics and graphics animation
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred:

  • Ability to operate various types of video cameras including Canon and Arri documentary-style, cinematic cameras, and gimbal systems
  • Adobe Creative Suite software skills including Premiere Pro and After Effects
  • Drone videography skills

Salary

The hiring range for this position is Communications & Marketing Professional 1, Market Range 09. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
