Job Description

The Senior Maintenance Specialist within the One Call unit repairs and performs maintenance on all mechanical/electrical within the envelope of buildings and perimeter. One Call is responsible for answering and reacting to customers’ needs and concerns 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is a specialty group whose primary focus is customer service by answering the One Call phone in a professional manner, interpreting customer’s needs, performing or facilitating necessary repairs with an excellent customer satisfaction outcome. This group performs any repairs required by customers to include lighting, ceilings, doors and hardware, restrooms, general plumbing, etc. The position requires the ability to follow all repairs through to completion including repairs that are performed by other Facilities Services units while maintaining contact with the customer keeping them informed of progress.

Responsibilities

  • Total responsibility for implementing One Call program: Answering One Call phone, responding in a professional assuring manner, gather all pertinent details and information, visually go to problem area, evaluate what repairs are necessary, make needed repairs or bring in assets required to do so.
  • Communicate with customers about status of their complaints or needs and notify them when situation is or will be resolved.
  • Cross train when involved with other Facilities Services disciplines.
  • Assist other Facilities Services units as needed in order to repair or service equipment in a timely manner.
  • Provide support with shutting down utilities (water, power and gas) and bringing them back on line.
  • Perform exterior lighting inspections at night and repair as possible.
  • Inspect campus buildings as time permits making repairs as needed or make lists of noted repair issues to turn in to Foreman.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services in areas that require evening or night repairs to extend usability and time in operation.
  • Mentor and train new maintenance and One Call employees.
  • Work with UTPD and First Responders in the event of an emergency. Watch for well-being and safety of students, staff, facility and visitors.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience:
    • Four (4) years of experience or an equivalent combination of trade school and experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
    • Must be trained in electrical arc flash safety procedures and must be able to wear associated PPE.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Must have the ability to accurately research needed procedures, parts and equipment for daily operation.
    • Ability to accurately troubleshoot mechanical and electric control systems.
    • Must have the skill to schedule timely completion of work orders and projects.
    • Must have the ability to climb a ladder and/or work from a lift when height of task is over (6) feet high.
    • Ability to use power tools.
    • Applicant must have a working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of college facilities.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR06
  • Anticipated Salary: $17.25 per hour ($35,880 annually)
