Job Description

The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work is accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist I. This position reports to the Enrollment and Program Support Manager and provides vital administrative support to the endowed faculty and internal awards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to four endowed faculty and our internal awards.
  • Offer direct administrative assistance to endowed faculty, including schedule management, correspondence, and travel support.
  • Initiate travel authorizations and reimbursements, ensuring compliance with university and departmental policies.
  • Coordinate all events associated with endowed faculty.
  • Coordinated internal awards process and provide administrative support to the internal awardees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • 2 -3 years of administrative experience in a professional office environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Professional decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the College of Social Work and adherence to all University and College policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • Experience working in an academic program or higher education environment.
  • Experience with Adobe, Banner, Argos, Microsoft Teams and Canvas

Position Details

  • Location: Knoxville
  • Onsite, Hybrid, or Remote: Hybrid
  • Position Pay Rate/Range: MR 05 - $20/hr.
  • Hours: 8 am – 5 pm Mon-Fri
  • Duration of Temporary Assignment: As needed
