Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence-Architecture, the Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, deployment, and optimization of infrastructure and systems that enable scalable, secure, and high-performance computing and data warehousing solutions.

Required Education and Experience
The candidate who fills the Systems Engineer position is required to have:
Bachelor’s degree
3+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Dev Ops Engineer or similar role in a data or BI- focused environment
Hands on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), especially services related to data warehousing and analytics
Experience managing and supporting BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Locker
Familiarity with modern data architecture concepts, including data lakes, warehouses, and streamlining data
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 years of experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
Master’s degree
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Understanding of networking, security, and authentication protocols (SSO, OAuth, LDAP).
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, etc.)
Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Mulesoft, dbt, etc.).

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Infrastructure and Platform Management: Design, implement, and manage infrastructure to support BI tools, data platforms, and analytics applications (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Snowflake, Redshift). Work with DevOps or platform teams to provision and optimize cloud-based data environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Maintain system performance and uptime of enterprise computing & BI platforms, ensuring high availability and minimal disruption. Develop and automate system monitoring, alerting, and backup solutions for cloud-based environments using tools such as Azure, Gearset, Fabric Real-Time Intelligence, etc.
Access Control: Manage access controls, user provisioning, and security protocols for enterprise computing & BI tools and platforms. Establish and manage user access controls and permissions, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and periodic reviews of access levels across systems, ensuring compliance with institutional policies. Monitor and audit permissions to enforce least-privilege principles and maintain security integrity across platforms. Implement IT governance standards and controls related to system access, configuration management, and change management processes, aligning with UTFI’s data governance and compliance frameworks.
Collaboration & Support: Collaborate with data engineers to ensure efficient data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration. Provide documentation and training for internal teams on systems architecture, processes and tools
