Reporting to the Director of the Center for Health Education & Wellness, the primary purpose of the position is to assist in the leadership of health promotion practices that contribute to a supportive environment for success and positive health behaviors. This position is responsible for the development and application of population-level initiatives including prevention activities and health assessments; engagement and cultivation of partnerships to address the health needs of the campus community; and application and evaluation of theoretical frameworks and evidence-informed strategies that address individual and community health.

The Center for Health Education and Wellness within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Assistant Director. This position will assist with the leadership of the department and will oversee the areas of student general health and wellness, peer health education, and the employee wellness program.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Educational Leadership, Higher Education, or a related field
  • Experience: 3 years of professional work experience with at least 2 years in health promotion. Direct supervisory experience of full-time employees.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of student development theories and models; knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models; knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives; quantitative and qualitative research skills; skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, trainings, small group, and individual; written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; supervisory skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to coordinate and implement campus/community programs, processes, and assessments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR12
  • Anticipated hiring range: Minimum salary of $65,000. Final salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
