This position provides maintenance and care for the RecSports Complex's 10 recreational fields (6 natural grass, 4 astroturf, and 2 clay infields), sand volleyball courts, and the surrounding grounds (38 acres). During inclement weather periods where the work at the complex may be limited, this position will assist with maintenance of equipment at the RecSports facilities on the Knoxville campus.

This position is responsible for the maintenance and groundskeeping at the RecSports Field Complex on Sutherland Ave.

Required Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: Some experience using outdoor lawn equipment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to communicate via E-mail

  • Ability to use Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Ability to work primarily in an outdoor environment.

  • Manicuring, preparing, and repairing fields and surrounding grounds for the RecSports Complex.
  • Diagnose and perform equipment repairs on small engines and grounds equipment (including mowers, tractor, utility vehicles, etc.)
  • Tracking maintenance on all equipment.
  • Trash pick-up and general upkeep of the facility.
