The Office of the Transfer Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Transfer Evaluator position. The Office of the Transfer Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Transfer Evaluator position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Minimum one year of experience working in an office environment setting.

  • Experience with basic office skills and equipment, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, copier, fax, scanner, and web-based telephone system.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and personally with others including but not limited to students, advisors, faculty, deans, department heads, parents, and co-workers.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations in an inclusive manner.

  • Ability to process high volumes of work with accuracy and within deadlines on a routine basis.

  • Knowledge in (including but not limited to) Microsoft Office, College Source (TES), Banner, OnBase, Slate, and Salesforce.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 1 to 3 years experience in Higher Education

  • 1 to 3 years experience in Enrollment Management

  • Experience in transfer evaluation and articulation

  • Experience working with online programs

  • Familiarity with Banner or another student information system

  • Experience working in a fast-paced office environment, multi-tasking, and time management

  • Ability to make appropriate decisions regarding course equivalencies

  • Be able to process data entry for extended lengths of time

  • Good communication skills, time management, multi-tasking, stress management, and to be very team and detail-oriented

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR04

  • Anticipated hiring range: $33,200 - $37,400, depending on experience and qualifications

About The College/Department/Division

The Division

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations. The Division of Enrollment Management is committed to our Vision, Mission and Values. This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.

This position utilizes established University transfer policies and procedures to evaluate transfer coursework submitted for admissions (residential and Digital Learning), readmissions, and supplements to UT's students’ academic history.

Specifically, this position:

  • Becomes an expert in the UTK Digital Learning programs, serving as the liaison for Undergraduate Admissions constituents.

  • Evaluates transfer credit using Banner (UTK student information system) and OnBase (transfer course evaluation software).

  • Decides appropriate evaluation for transfer coursework, in order to complete a UT degree, based on knowledge of UT course disciplines, educational units, and curriculum history.

  • Utilizes University transfer policies in order to calculate a transfer grade point average (GPA) on all transfer students (residential and Digital Learning) that apply to UT. In addition, determine if they meet certain criteria for admissions (Including but not limited to: grade change policies, articulation agreements, Tennessee Transfer Pathways, HOPE Scholarship)

  • Assists with evaluation of study abroad course work.

  • Adds course credit for Advanced Credits, including but not limited to, Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Dual Credit Challenge Exams, and Military Credit to students’ Academic History.

  • Clarifies transfer information to University offices, Digital Learning, advising centers, graduation office, orientation office, One-Stop counselors, DARS encoders, NCAA compliance staff, students, parents, and professional staff at other institutions about transfer policies and procedures.

  • Notifies current UT students who wish to take summer courses at other institutions of the appropriate UT course equivalents.
